Scandal alums Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn were among the first of dozens of celebrities who gathered at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in August to lend their support to Kamala Harris and Tim Walz whether it be through musical performances or hosting or giving speeches. The California-born VP has long had a lot of friends in Hollywood – Hell, it was former BET president Reginald Hudlin’s spouse Chrisette Suter who introduced Harris and her ex-entertainment lawyer husband Doug Emhoff over a decade ago.
That Tinseltown support for Harris has exploded since Joe Biden dropped out of the White House race in late July and put his full weight behind his Vice President. Over the past few weeks, Beyoncé has contributed millions to the VP’s historic campaign and allowed Harris to use her song “Freedom” as a theme tune.
Additionally, dozens of singers, actors and high-profile have performed at rallies, organized zoom calls and virtual events to raise money for the Democratic ticket, like the White Dudes for Harris, the Comics for Harris and more recently, Swifties for Harris — which featured a visit from acclaimed songstress Carole King.
