林嶺東離開香港時失去香港〔一部《大冒險家》（1995）簡直是笑話﹞，又未必得到荷里活﹝《硬闖 100% 危險》（Maximum Risk, 1997）實在是不敢恭維﹞，但這次香江重臨，香港仍然是他的──雖然明眼人都知道吳鎮宇與劉青雲的對峙關係多少來自《盜火線》（Heat, 1995），爆劫馬會是食住《虎膽龍威第三集》（Die Hard With a Vengeance, 1995），而有部份場面又幾似《七宗罪》（Seven, 1995）──劉青雲在橫巷遇襲那場戲當然是一次拙劣的模仿，但《高度戒備》連場精采佈局的巧奪心思還是處處超越《盜火線》（咁嘅戲其實不難超越），雖然爆劫場面與《虎膽龍威第三集》相比又顯得小兒科，但人物心理著墨又比前兩者深刻豐富。吳鎮宇與劉青雲獄中的針鋒相對，三言兩語更到了心靈交戰的地步，就比阿爾柏仙奴及羅拔迪尼路兩條友在咖啡室苦情相訴的囉囌譖氣來得勁抽。當吳宇森式兩雄相遇必定惺惺相惜的浪漫傷情，甚至乎在荷里活也成為陳腔濫調（《盜火線》便咁死法），林嶺東式重申正邪兩立涇渭分明怒火衝天的狂暴，反而又一新耳目，更令劇力萬鈞。《高度戒備》令我重拾八十年代看香港電影時的興奮，而且覺得他這次荷里活之行並沒有浪費。雖然有目共睹荷里活並沒有厚待他，《硬闖 100% 危險》橫看豎看只是 B 級製作，但是 Van Demme 盲舂舂的到處亂跑，林嶺東再本事也只能要他用跑四百米的速度跑馬拉松而不喘氣而已，但當荷里活的動作片已經可以借特技支援，不費吹灰之力就死人塌樓驚天動地，而橋段轉折也致力六壬盡扭智勇雙全，《硬闖 100% 危險》兩皆欠奉，真是看得人傷心難過。吊詭的是，林嶺東在荷里活沒做到的，回到香港卻做到。除了技術上影片畫質有所不及，部份場面分鏡仍欠縝密，幾場人物感情可有可無外，荷里活式的實況要求，對現實掌握的毫不暴戾──比如片末兩雄埋身肉搏，就少了港產片例牌功夫功架而加強了說服力，著著...
